Q: Which file type of movie can I submit? How about file size and pixel size?

A: About file type: Database can accept, store, and deliver any file type. However, we suggest QuickTime (.mov) or mpeg (.mpg, mp4) movie to be submitted. This is mainly for the convenience of users.

About pixel size: There is no restriction. However, you may be aware that we designed web page to fit 320 x 240 pixel movie.

About file size: We set 100MB limit via uploading by Internet. Large size file more than 100MB could be accepted, if you send it to us by CD-R or other removable media. However, to view such large file may trouble users. We suggest that you will downsize the file or split it into several files

Q: I am a school teacher. Can I download movies and use them in my class?

A: Yes. Don't forget indicating the name of author, Data No, and that movies come from 'Movie Archives of Animal Behavior' e.g., "Kuwamura, T. 2001. MOMO VideoArchives. momo011123ld01b". You can use movies freely for education or scientific research, but copyrights of all movies are kept by author(s) You should consult Terms of Service for more detail

Q: What is a badge leftside of movie?

A: It indicates that scientific papers about the topic have been published. This means that scientific validity has been assured by other researchers. It does not imply that movies without badge are scientifically useless.

Q: I am not ethology specialist. Can I submit movies?

A: Welcome! Who knows that your movie contains astonishing new discoveries. We advise you should write your explanatory text in detail, especially informations not appeared in your movie (e.g., what had happened before focal behaviour was conducted, ecological situation, such as presence of predator or conspecific individual, possible effect of human observer). Please write text without subjective interpretation of behaviour. Such explanatiory text will improve convincing power of your movie.
