ウミネコは巣に戻った時、残っていたパートナーと「あいさつ儀式（greeting ceremony）を行う。ここでは、２個体が同調して行う「長鳴き（long call）」が行われている。これに加えて「ミューコール（mew call）」と「チョーキング（choking）」が行われることも多い。「長鳴き」は、他にも様々な文脈で行われる。詳しくは、他の登録映像参照。

モメ類のディスプレイ行動は、動物行動学古典的研究の一つである。ティンバーゲンらは14種のカモメ類について調べ、13の基本的ディスプレイを見いだしている。これらは，使われ方や、細かい行動の構造は異なっているものの、カモメ類の多くに共通して見られ、ウミネコでも見ることができる。本データベースを運営するMOMO委員会では，ウミネコの繁殖期ディスプレイの映像収集を行った。
