カブトムシのメス同士が、研究室内の人工的な樹液場を巡って、頭突きによって闘争している。このようなメスの頭突きは，いくつかの研究で既に記述されているが動画は無い (Siva-Jothy, 1987; Iguchi, 1996; Hongo, 2003)。本種のメスは角を持たない。しかしながら，その同性間闘争はかなり激しく，頭突き行動の際，カチッと音がする。メスの頭突き行動はオスのそれと良く似ている。しかしながら，本種におけるメスの闘争行動の研究は未だ多くない。
