I filmed agonistic interactions between adult males during the breeding season. During attacks, male Pugettia quadridens quadridens typically opens up its claw wide and then grab hold of its opponent with its entire claw. Two crabs, however, may jostle with each other, each nipping the other with its movable finger. A male crab may grab and throw the opponent.
