A male falcon is feeding his mate and brooding eggs in the video picture. A male brought food (a starling) back to a nest and gave it to a female. The female moved out of the nest to feed and the male broods the eggs. When the falcon pairs have only few eggs, neither parents are very attentive to the eggs. This pair nested on a terrace roof on the 17th floor of a building in Kanazawa City. In the year 2000, when they first nested, they failed to raise any fledgling because the eggs rolled around over the roof. Next year, with cooperation of the building community, we put a gravel layer over the roof (gravel size 6-9 mm). The falcon pair successfully reared three fledglings, which is the first case in Japan that the peregrine falcons successfully fledged young in cities with many high buildings. The pair fledged young in 2002 and 2003 as well.
