All hermatypic (or reef-building) corals have symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae in their cells and use photosynthetic products algae produce. Many sea anemones also have zooxanthellae. So, they expand their tentacle crown under the light. This sea anemone, Anthopleura japonica, generally captures particulate organisms falling down to it but it also extends the tentacles in the bright water. As I approached, the sea anemone closed the tentacle crown but after a while expanded it again, which was captured in the video picture. (translated by Asoh)
