Sea turtles generate forward propulsion by moving their front legs in the same manner as birds flap their wings. They change the direction of movement using rear legs as a rudder. Newborn turtles can not control leg movement as well as adults do. A newborn in the video picture is moving four legs haphazardly and are not making nice forward movement. Juvenile turtles are not able to dive into water until they reach certain growth stage as well. (translated by Asoh)
