Intraspecific competition of a gall forming aphid Tetraneura triangula.
Six Tetraneura aphids are known to induce galls on leaves of Ulmus davidiana in Hokkaido, northern island of Japan. However, some individuals do not induce a gall by itself, and become facultative kleptoparasite. They usurp an incipient gall induced by other species or conspecifics. In such case, they kick each other by their hind legs and try to drive the opponent away.
