The larvae of Osmylus hyalinatus are semiaquatic insects inhabiting the water's edge of small streams and ponds. This larva sprays a hyaline liquid from an anal opening if disturbed. The larval fishfly Parachauliodes japonicus captured the larva with his mandibles and manipulated it to swallow, but finally released it.
