The larvae of Osmylus hyalinatus are semiaquatic insects inhabiting the water's edge of small streams and ponds. This larva sprays a hyaline liquid from an anal opening if disturbed. If the larvae exhausted spray material with repeated artificial stimuli, the ant forager was able to hunt this molested larva.
