We observed copulation of the land snail Satsuma (Luchuhadra) amanoi , an inhabitant of Southern Okinawa Island, in the laboratory. Filming was started in the middle of the copulation, and the snails showed little movement during the first four hours. This species is a simultaneous hermaphrodite. In this video picture, the right individual appears to be pumping sperm into the left individual. The video picture mainly shows active movements of the snails after the completion of copulation. We edited out the parts of the video picture where the snails showed little movement. Once the pair finished copulation, the left individual, which had been receiving sperm, moved first. After they separated from each other completely, the right individual defecated, leaving a long thread of feces. (The playing speed is 18 times the actual speed.)
