Harbor seals¡¡¡ÊKuril seal¡Ë (Phoca vitulina stejnegeri) live in east of Hokkaido, Japan. Females generally give birth to one pup each year. A harbor seal mother recognizes her pup by smell. Mother/pup pairs are often seen nuzzling nose to nose on land and in the water. Please refer to"Nose to nose ¡§ Harbor seal 1, 2, 4" .
