The fly species in the video is about 5-mm long and many individuals were found on the mad of a fallow lotus paddy. Only males appear in this video. Females had extended abdomen and were laying eggs in the mad in the field.
As male (b) lands a little away from male (a), two males threaten each other by shaking their front legs. Male (b) approaches male (a) little by little. As the distance between the males shortens, male (b) first raises its front legs. Male (a) responds and the two fight with their legs. Male (a) strikes down the legs of male (b). As male (b) lowers its body, male (a) raises its legs high. At that moment, male (b) flew away.
