The Madagascar paradise flycatcher is a resident species in Madagascar and the Comoros. Adult males show two distinct color morphs, white and rufous, and have long tail streamers. Females are orange-rufous in color, and have no long tail streamers. In general, species in which males have prominent color and/or characteristics usually have polygynous mating system. However, the Madagascar paradise flycatcher is monogamy, and males share considerable parental care, such as nest-building, incubation, brooding and feeding nestlings. In this video image, a male (rufous morph) feeds lepidoptera to the nestling. It is very interesting to investigate why monogamous mating system and considerable male parental care had evolved in this sexual dimorphic species (and why long tail streamers and color dimorphism had occurred in males of this species). We have not got the answer yet.
