In male-male contests in the hermit crab Pagurus middendorffii, both contestants (i.e. owner and intruder) used the major chelipeds with flicking and/or grappling during the escalated fighting. Especially when an intruder won the contest (this video), the intruder used its major cheliped as an offensive weapon to take the female away from the owner by force.
