Abdominal undulation of a net-spinning caddisfly larva.
This type of larvae make fixed-retreat with secretion silk in the stream substrate.
In larval stage, their respiration depends on stream-flow as they are otherwise unable to obtain sufficient oxygen because of their lack of undulatory behavior.
However, just before forming pupariums, they come to undulate their abdomen awkwardly.
In pupal stage, they have smooth undulatory behavior.
