Many insects avoid predation by spraying urine or other liquids on predators. In this study, A Plestiodon finitimus was placed in a cage and fed on a nontoxic moth, Kuromondokuga niphonis, with cut wings. At that time, water was artificially sprayed from the nozzle just before the lizard ate, and the water was put on the head of the lizard. As a result, lizards hesitated to prey on their prey for seconds.
This video shows a controlled experiment in which a nozzle sprayed only air at the lizard's head, but the lizard did not hesitate to prey on it.
