Diacamma sp. from Japan lacks morphologically distinct queen. Instead, a worker (called as the gamergate) takes reproductive role in their society.
The female, future gamergate, becomes sexually active about a week after she ecloses from its cocoon, and go out from the nest to search mate, winged male. It is considered that the gamergate releases pheromone to call male. Then, males are also excited and eagerly search and try to copulate the female. However, the female sometimes refuses the male.
When the female accepts the male, he freezes and is dragged into the nest by the female. Then, workers gather around the copulating pair, and soon begin to separate them. They firstly cut male?'s head, and proceed wings, legs, and thorax. Normally, it takes more than a half day for workers to detach male?'s gaster from the female. In this movie, copulation occurred around 15:30, and the gaster remains at 14:00 on the next day.
Without workers help, the female cannot take male off, and they both die in several days
