Wasps are known to perform 'trophallaxis', that is, the imago licks nourishing liquid secreted by its larva when the imago feeds its larva.
This movie recorded that imagoes of Vespa analis did not give food to their larvae, but bit larvae's mouths some times. It is probable that these imagoes scrounged nourishing liquid one-sidedly (Matsuura, 1988). The last cut plays in slow motion.
This comb was built closing to the glass sash of a house. Comb interior was shot on the other side of the glass.
