Close-quarters effect is defined as a defensive function that is caused by the sudden initiation of the prey escape at a close distance to predator. In this video, abrupt fleeing of a frog (Pelophylax nigromaculatus) that was initiated at a close distance frightened a snake (Elaphe quadrivirgata) that had been searching for the frog.
